This year\, we will carry out a Congress\, which combines the established SDW Forest Pedagogy Conference and the 17th European Forest Pedagogics Congress (the annual congress of the FCN-Subgroup) in one event. It will take place under the motto “Learning to create together – How can forest-related ESD build partnerships and empower people?” \nFocus of the Congress\nThe congress will focus on participation\, empowerment and the strengthening of partnerships for the transformation of society towards more sustainability. It will provide an opportunity to pool and expand the expertise of the two groups of actors. At the same time\, we want to boost the existing forest education network. By looking beyond our own horizons\, we are increasingly looking at neighbouring countries and worldwide in order to gain new supporters for forest-based education for sustainable development. \nClick here for registration. \nCall for proposal – workshop \nCall for proposal – Agora URL:https://foresteurope.org/event/17th-european-forest-pedagogics-congress-2023/ LOCATION:JUFA Hotel Königswinter\, Bergstraße 115\, Königswinter\, Germany CATEGORIES:forest education ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://foresteurope.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/csm_Waldpadagogiktagung_FotoManLV_Forest_P_Congress_2019__3__fdbaca5206.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20230411 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20230414 DTSTAMP:20240923T091300 CREATED:20230221T161915Z LAST-MODIFIED:20230221T162134Z UID:23028-1681171200-1681430399@foresteurope.org SUMMARY:SILVA Network Annual Conference: Communication – a neglected topic in higher forestry education and further education? DESCRIPTION:Human life on Earth can only be sustained with the survival and proper functioning of natural systems\, especially forests. However\, large-scale deforestation and forest degradation takes place in many countries in the world. In other parts of the World\, the unstoppable process of urbanization increasingly leads to the physical and mental separation of people from nature. More and more this is resulting in total refusal of active measures in forests aiming at wood production. In political decision-making and economic processes\, you barely find representatives of forest related sciences. While we are exceeding the limits of our planet’s carrying capacity\, awareness of that wicked problem is limited and nature-based solutions are underrepresented in the political discussions on problem solving. What can professionals of higher forestry education and further education do against the unfavourable processes described here? How can the gap be bridged between the knowledge background and perceptions of forest scientists\, political decision makers and lay men? And how can this be used to adapt the contents of teaching and further education in forest and nature related disciplines? \nThese questions will be addressed in the SILVA Network Annual Conference\, held at the University of Sopron on April\, 11 – 13th 2023. The program includes inspiring presentations and a full-day excursion into the educational forests of Sopron University and the nearby national park. \nIt pays to be quick: An early bird rate applies until February 21st. Please also keep an eye at the deadline for abstract submission if you are interested to present. \nPlease go to the SILVA Network website to register.
